Thanksgiving Dinner Without Pounds

Thanksgiving does not have to come with extra pounds.  You do not have to torture and or deprive yourself or sacrifice your taste by watching what you eat to enjoy a sumptuous Thanksgiving meal.  It is true that this holiday dinner contains a large amount of calories.  Just keep this thought in the back of your head.  “One day of fasting will not make you lose a lot of weight, so one night of a little indulgence will not ruin your long term weight loss efforts”So go ahead!  Eat as much as you want of whatever you want.  No need to eat yourself sick, of course.  Oh!  Do not worry -you will not set your weight loss goals back.

Maintaining your weight during the holiday season is probably more practical than trying to lose some extra pounds.  Your body's fat burning hormones are highest after a big meal.  In fact, gorging yourself once in a while, as long as it is done in MODERATION can actually speed up your metabolism for several days.  So just dig in and enjoy!   The responsible thing to do for the next day or two after the holiday is just continue focusing on whatever fat burning program that you have implemented in your routine and you will be fine.                                                                                                                                   
 Leave The Pounds On Your Plate

Portion control is one of the most important components in maintaining your weight during the holidays. This allows you to eat all the enjoyable foods.  If you are serious about burning fat to lose weight you should be on a routine of eating small quantities every 3 hours on a daily basis.  Thanksgiving Day should be no exception to this rule.  The good thing about this practice is that when dinner time rolls around you are not going to be very hungry.              

The first order of business is to get rid of the giant dinner plate if you can do so graciously.  Choose smaller portions but include a balance of protein, fat, vegetables and fiber. (Each food group should be equal in portion on your plate and a portion size should be the same size as your clenched fist).  Drinking a couple of ice cold glasses of water with your meal can be very helpful to burning body fat.  Your body will burn about 100 calories just by raising the water to body temperature. You will also reap the added benefits of feeling fuller while getting your body flushed of toxins.

Food Choices 

Start off with a small bowl of soup before the main course.  This will help to stimulate the digestive juices.  Just check to make sure that it is not fatty. 
Next have a big serving of salad.  Do not skimp here.  Eating lots of vegetables before the main course will help you curb the amount of food you will intake.  If you must have  salad dressing use low calorie preferably one that is vinegar based. 

Here comes the main course.  Have loads of turkey without the skin.  Enjoy a sample of everything, but  just do it in moderation.  By the way skip the gravy remember your ultimate goal is to lose the fat.  

Desert anyone?  You can say yes.  Choose a very small piece of cake or pie but eat slowly so you can savor the taste.
